Sneak Peak
Count Dracula had directed me to go to the Golden Krone Hotel, which I found, to my great delight, to be thoroughly old-fashioned, for of course I wanted to see all I could of the ways of the country. I was evidently expected, for when I got near the door I faced a cheery-looking elderly woman in the usual peasant dress--white undergarment with long double apron, front, and back, of coloured stuff fitting almost too tight for modesty. When I came close she bowed and said, "The Herr Englishman?" "Yes," I said, "Jonathan Harker." She smiled, and gave some message to an elderly man in white shirt-sleeves, who had followed her to the door. He went, but immediately returned with a letter:--
Synopsis
To assist Count Dracula in buying a home close to London, Jonathan Harker, a recently licensed English lawyer, travels to the Count's castle in the Carpathian Mountains. Harker ignores the Count's advice and walks the castle at night, where he comes across three vampire ladies. Dracula saves him and gives the women a little infant in a bag while also rescuing Harker. Dracula departs the castle shortly after Harker awakens, leaving him in the care of the women. Harker manages to escape and ends up insane in a Budapest hospital. Dracula loads boxes of earth from his castle onto a ship and sails for England. The crew is described as dissipating in the captain's log until he is the only person left, chained to the helm to keep the ship on track. When the ship runs aground, an animal that resembles a huge dog is seen leaping ashore.
